Key Features of Arkos
The remaining Cultures of Arkos fall into two basic categories. Dominant and Lost. The dominant cultures span the continent pooling in areas of denser populations due to ease of resource acquisition. The known world consists of a rather large ‘dual’ continent ( Pangea-esque ). Given the retention (or the advancement) of sailing techniques much more is known about the coasts of the continent than the interior. The interior or Arkos, according to the scholars is staggeringly large, and according to the explorer guilds is staggeringly dangerous. A fact born out – in the House of Lords – by landed gentry who represent the farmers who must regularly employ significant effort to defend crops. Not from thieves but from the flora and fauna of the land itself. This rather alien idea may now common place in the waking hours but is still fodder for nightmares in the sleep hours of men’s minds.
The lost cultures are those small colonies of men and women who struck out into the wilds for various purpose. And, once traveled beyond the line of domestication have been swallowed by the time, the dark, the green, and the unknown. They may be out there still as some lost kingdoms have been found and reclaimed by more dominant nations states.
The largest, or at least the most continuous, collection of nation states in existence on Arkos is the self proclaimed Central Empire. Perhaps better explained as a tightly bound confederacy of 8 nations. This union is a microcosm of every dominant culture known.
